Douglas Brave Williams Crescent City California: A Life of Adventure and Passion

Don Wilson Brown was a man who lived life to the fullest, with a heart that always remained in Eastern Montana. Born and raised on a rural homestead on Shade Creek in McCone County, known as the Quarter Circle DB, Don's early years were filled with adventure and passion. His love for flying began at a young age, and he proudly wore the badge of 'youngest pilot in the state of Montana' after receiving his pilot's license at just 16.

Don's life was marked by many exciting experiences, from his days as a spray pilot to his time as an aircraft mechanic. He worked hard and strived to be an excellent hand wherever he went, but his true passion remained flying. His adventures took him to many different places, including Helena, where he attended aircraft mechanic school.

In 1957, Don met and married Carol, and the couple lived on the family ranch in Eastern Montana until 1991. They raised their family there, surrounded by the rolling hills and open spaces of the American West. After relocating to Fort Peck to assist with the family ranch, Don continued to pursue his love of flying.

Don's education began at Illmont School, where his mother was a teacher. He later attended Wolf Point High School, graduating in 1953. For a time, he lived in a boarding house under the care and supervision of Ruby and Melvin Lingle.

Throughout his life, Don had many colorful experiences, from late-night excursions with friends to country school dances. His stories of adventure and friendship have been passed down through generations, serving as a reminder of an era gone by. The two-room school house where he attended grade school still stands today, a testament to the simplicity and beauty of life in rural Montana.

Don is survived by his daughter Tammie Brown Butler and son Tracy Brown, as well as his grandchildren Duston Butler, Nichlas Brown, and Emma Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, mother Astrid (Rorvick) Brown, father Dalton Brown, and sister Myrna Frye.

Don's passing on September 20th after a short illness marks the end of an era for those who knew him. Despite his many accomplishments, it was his love of flying that truly defined him as a person. His legacy will live on through the memories of his adventures and the lives he touched along the way.
